Steve Trites

Mr. Trites is a skilled researcher and policy analyst who specializes in the design and conduct of environmental scans for new policy and program initiatives, and in the research and analysis of social, economic and institutional factors in the design and/or evaluation of public policies and programs. He also lends his training and expertise in interview techniques and in writing and copy editing to the research and development of evaluation studies, policy and program analyses, and public information materials.
 
Mr. Trites’ experience includes: preparing and conducting interviews for inclusion in the report Children’s Health and the Environment: Results of an Environmental Scan; editing of issues of the newsletter Expression, focusing on seniors issues; and copywriting, substantive editing and research of public information for the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, including reorganization of the Corporation’s website.
 
Mr. Trites assisted in the development of a conceptual framework to explore the linkages between public policies, socio-economic status and health outcomes, for the Canadian Institute for Health Information and conducted background research on international experiences with early childhood development programs, focusing in particular on those dedicated to the special needs of indigenous populations, on behalf of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada. He also assisted in the development of content for a Transport Canada website dealing with public and staff appeals, with respect to security clearance decisions for port workers and airline passengers.

Drawing on his expertise in physical fitness issues, Mr. Trites undertook a quantitive research study on linkages between Ontario provincial physical education curricula and personal motivation of adolescents toward engagement in physical activity.
